The Sound Republic solves the Energy Crisis

OK, I've got this whole high oil prices thing all figured out. You guys ready for this? Two words: Mr. Fusion.

It's so simple, I can't believe no one thought of this before. Doc Brown wasn't just a character, he was a fucking visionary. So I've decided to start the Mister Fusion Development Lobby so we can get this whole silly "energy crisis" thing all sorted out with Washington ASAP. Everything should be cool by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

You'd never find this in Britannica.

Vestax makes deliciously weird stuff

Say what you will about the weird shit that Vestax makes, but you've got to give them credit for having the nuts to know who their customer base is, and that is totally not the lowest common denominator that most major companies market to, but forward-thinking people who are willing to try new, innovative-as-hell, and occasionally incredibly expensive and over-the-top stuff. Or maybe it's because they have Q-Bert's weird ass doing product development (I mean that in a good way).

Anyway, I know it's a little bit older, but I just stumbled upon the made-to-order CDJ Guitar Thingy, the S1. Wacky. I want to know who is using this stuff, and I want them to be awesome at it.

And finally, they also made this line of home audio stuff called Guber (see, even the names are weird) for the casual vinyl enthusiast. (That iDeck up there). As a designerd, I like the look of it. A lot.

Right right, I'm done blowing sunshine up Vestax's ass until they give us a sponsorship.

The Secret Stash for Solve

If you live in my neighborhood, or in the city of Chicago period, you probably have seen Solve's work around. You might not even even have noticed it, as he was the king of subtle (and not-so subtle) street art. His style was definitely influential, and there's been tons of articles about his life, his murder (seriously - why?), and his work. Anyway, some folks are putting together a fund for his family by selling shirts of his work under the Solve Lives moniker. I just bought one, and so should you. Check out the Secret Stash for Solve here.

Support art and the people who get killed for it. (But SERIOUSLY, why?)

Live Sets from The Gathering SF

Holy hell. So I'm a Midwesterner and back in the rave days this series of parties (The Gathering) was the stuff of west coast lore. We heard vague rumblings from raving friends and cousins and adventurous traveling partygoers that there were these amazing house events going on in San Francisco, but that was about all we knew (we were broke after all). Anyway, they thankfully had the wherewithal to record most of the sets (on tape first, then on sweet sweet DAT). I'm linking directly here to the ones I think are most noteworthy (again, in the eyes of a Chicagoan), but you can snag the motherlode here. So right, you know the drill. Mac users, CTRL-Click and PC folk RT-Click, Save As. Have fun, and remember to pull your fat pants up when you walk through a puddle.
